Vorsäßsiedlung Schönebach

Take the Bachweg from Gadô straight to the cable car. Grandma Angelika is happy to show you the way. Ride the cable car comfortably from Bezau up to Baumgarten (free with the Bregenzerwald Card). From there, the view opens up across the entire Bregenzerwald all the way to Lake Constance — and that alone would make the ride worthwhile.

The trail passes alpine dairy huts, climbing gently toward the Niedere, then continues along a scenic high-altitude path. The route dips down and climbs again, passing the Lingenauerealpe, over the Schreiberesattel, through the alpine pastures of Hinteregg — until the path descends one last time and Schönenbach is reached. One of the most beautiful Vorsäß settlements in the Bregenzerwald, with its chapel and that particular kind of stillness found only in places you've reached on foot.

If you like, stop in here — the Kässpätzle at Jagdgasthaus Egender are exactly what you've earned after four hours. From there, ride the local bus back to Bezau in comfort.
