Warth-Schröcken & Ski Arlberg

A day of indulgence, in superlatives. The largest ski area in Austria, around 40 minutes from the GADÔ. By car or straight from Bezau by bus.

Sometimes more is simply more. That’s when the Arlberg is exactly the right place. Ski Arlberg is known as the ski area of superlatives: 301 kilometres of slopes, 85 kilometres of descent on the RUN of FAME alone, and an average of 9 metres of snowfall per season. This is where alpine skiing grew up, and to this day it is the playground of the rich and beautiful. In good conditions, it’s well worth trying the Arlberg once.

From Bezau, it’s closer than you’d think. Around 40 minutes by car, or comfortably by bus, which departs directly from Bezau.

Two passes, two prices. Before you set off, it’s worth thinking about what you have in mind. There is one pass for Warth-Schröcken only and another for the whole of Ski Arlberg. The Arlberg pass costs more, but it also includes the link to Lech and Zürs. If you’re planning a proper day of indulgence, take the big pass. If you prefer something more relaxed, stay in Warth-Schröcken and save.

And that’s where we have a tip: Warth-Schröcken is an insider favourite, especially in spring. The slopes face north and Warth sits very high. That means you can almost always ski here, even when spring has already arrived elsewhere.

One honest note: food prices in Warth are much more reasonable than in Lech. Good to know before you go.

Afterwards, it’s back to the GADÔ: shoes off, socks on.
